About the X (Twitter) Post Size

X (formerly Twitter) shows single images in the timeline at a 16:9 landscape shape, and anything else gets trimmed in the preview. This tool turns your picture into a 1200 by 675 pixel image, so what people see in the feed is what you intended. Drag and zoom to choose the crop, or fit the full image on a background colour.

What you can do

• Save a 1200×675 image, the 16:9 size X uses for single-image posts.
• Use Fill to crop the picture to the frame, or Fit to show all of it with coloured bars.
• Drag the picture to place it and zoom anywhere between 100 and 300 percent.
• Pick the bar colour from four swatches or the colour picker.

When it works best

• Posting a screenshot of a chart or code so it is not cut off in the timeline.
• Sharing a vertical phone photo in a landscape frame without losing the subject.
• Making release-note or announcement graphics that preview cleanly.

Things to know

• Resizing happens locally in the browser, so your picture is not uploaded.
• Multi-image posts are cropped into other shapes by X, and this preset does not cover them.
• Fit mode keeps every pixel but makes the subject smaller; for screenshots with small text, Fill with careful zoom often reads better.
• X recompresses images, so save from a high-quality source rather than an already compressed copy.
